This is a WordPress powered website. Videos were made possible by YouTube. In conjection with BrilliantEcho, a deaf company.

This campaign lasted from mid-april until late june of 2010.

One of my side projects I decided to do inspired by the green movement. This website has been created purely from HTML/CSS and the images were created from scratch. I wanted to pull of a feel that would be “organic-like.” The stamp icons are downloadable in the sample website for your use. The plan for this theme is to lead it into becoming a theme for WordPress.

creation date: 2009

client: DeafHope.

DeafHope is presenting their Casino Night over at the Bay area and they asked me to design a ticket for them. This was a chance, so I thought, for me to bring in a bit of a poker side of me in this design.

Casino Tickets

Casino Tickets

The goal here was to make a worn-out looking stamp of a poker chip (See photo on right) but apparently there are some out there who think it’s a roulette. A poker chip or a roulette–they both still represent gambling and both are casino games.casinotickets

They were kind enough to send me a sheet of tickets for my portfolio (without that, there wouldn’t be an entry here!) and I can’t thank them enough. Before I wrap this up, don’t forget to support DeafHope (www.deaf-hope.org).

client: DeafHope.

Not too long after designing and making their blog work, Julie Rems, the executive director of DeafHope, asked me to create a design for their 2009 Glimmer of Hope so that it would seem cohesive with the new blog’s theme. I came up with something simple and was one of DeafHope’s guests to their benefit dinner.

This design was used for flyers, cards, banner, and digital formats. Photo used from Fotolia.

medium: Digital: Website and design.

creation date: 2010

client: benvess.com

“BenVess.com was temporarily shut down in order to promote awareness and trying to get a nonprofit, DeafHope, as many votes possible to win some charity competition.”

For a week, I had my website shut down in support for a fundraising event on FaceBook for DeafHope, a nonprofit organization for abused Deaf victims in California. I created the postcard, came up with the text on it and used it for my facebook user picture and the website. The website was created using simple HTML/CSS.

The page can still be seen here: http://www.benvess.com/deafhope/

Eastern Bloc: Change is Cumming

medium: Digital media and print.

creation date: 2009

client: Eastern Bloc, NYC

A friend of mine asked me if I could make a simple flyer in a hurry for one of the most popular bars of New York: Eastern Bloc. Alan Cummings was the host of this party. It’s in support of Barack Obama long, long before he became POTUS. The general election was an excuse for the bar to get a bunch of crazy New Yorkers to get together and be drunk.

No, really!

The only reason I was able to snag this little flyer was because my ex works at that bar before it became mad popular (and still does to this day). He told me that he needed this made within the hour–that this was somthing he’s had in his hand for a while. Uhmph, so, here’s the result of my “great masterpiece” made in less than an hour.
